| Lafayette is already
one of the USA's leading manufacturers of
AV kit, but now the company is bringing its
wealth of expertise to the UK and European
market. It's launching a tantalising range
of innovative, multifunctional and affordable
home entertainment products, which is great
news for AV fans everywhere. The first products
to hit the UK will be two stylish and feature-packed
stand-alone DVD players, the LFDV969 and LFDV965
- both of which offer incredible value for
money. They're both capable of playing DVD-Audio
discs, which brings high-resolution, multi-channel
music into your living room, and both offer
progressive scan video output. This means
that when you watch a DVD through a compatible
display, the images will be smooth, crisp
and flicker free - letting you watch your
favourite movies in the best way possible.

Both feature a Super Slim Loader Mechanism,
which ensures that the body is ultra-slim
(just 48mm high!) and they're styled in a

Not only that, but the decks are also bursting

features. Both are compatible with Dolby Digital
and DTS 5.1 soundtracks, allowing you to hook
them up to an AV amplifer and enjoy rip-roaring
home cinema sound. And if you've got a lot
of different disc formats in your collection,
never fear - both the Lafayette DVD players
are able to play a wide range of discs, including
VideoCD, Super VideoCD, CD, HDCD, CD-R, CD-RW,
JPEG/Kodak Picture CDs and even MP3 files.
But here's the icing on the cake: all models
are multiregion-capable, meaning that you
can watch DVDs from different regions - including
Region 1. Hooking these players up to your
existing equipment is no problem, thanks to
the healthy selection of sockets on the rear
panel. These include optical and electrical
digital audio outputs, a Scart socket plus
component, composite and S-video outputs.
To enjoy DVD-Audio discs, 5.1- channel analogue
